Venue: At first glance from the outside, Orange Bar looks like a classic pool bar that definitely catches your eye — especially thanks to the countless “Chinese lanterns” strung across the street, which create a special atmosphere. The dominant color, especially after dark, is orange — it’s impossible to miss the glowing signage and warm orange hue lighting up the street. Inside, the ambiance is equally striking, with LED and colored lights everywhere, complemented by a soft blue/UV-toned main ceiling light, which can brighten the room fully when needed.
Lighting aside, once you step inside, you’re greeted by a fairly large room with a big window that opens onto a typical Thai-style beer bar balcony, overlooking the street. Outside on this small veranda are a couple of tables, where the girls often hang out, joking around and snacking on Thai food while casually inviting passersby to come in.
Inside, there’s a good number of tables of different shapes and sizes surrounded by comfortable padded stools. At the back of the room are the restrooms, separated by Japanese-style noren curtains, and on the right side there’s a pool table, while to the left is the bar counter. Near the entrance, there’s also an illuminated staircase leading to the upper floors — because Orange Bar is not just your average little bar: it spans three floors.
The first floor houses another lounge, again with a pool table, but it’s more intimate and relaxed. The second floor is home to a karaoke room. Higher up — but not open to the public for obvious reasons — are rooms for rent, where some of the girls who work at Orange or in nearby bars stay.
The overall vibe of the place is reminiscent of those quirky, rock-&-disco-themed pubs from the ’90s — a charming clash of styles and decorations that definitely makes Orange Bar Bangkok 11/1 stand out from the usual English pubs scattered across the city.
One fun feature of the bar is the weird and whimsical decor and accessories found throughout — from an ashtray shaped like a pair of jeans-clad legs and a bike-table out front, to boob- and butt-shaped glasses, Moai napkin holders, and ashtrays shaped like dogs or bikini-clad women. These little quirky touches are fun to discover and add to the bar’s playful personality.
Lastly, Orange Bar doesn’t shy away from the Thai heat — despite the relatively low ceiling and an open-wall layout that connects the interior with the outside through large windows and doors, the entire place is lined with air conditioners and fans, keeping the temperature perfectly under control.
Girls: It’s hard to say exactly how many girls you’ll find at Orange Bar at any given time — the number varies greatly depending on the hour, the day of the week, or whether there’s a birthday party or special event going on. On a typical evening, you can usually expect to see around ten girls, not counting the freelancers who hang around or the others who show up after their own bars close, since Orange Bar typically stays open until 5 AM or even later.
The quality and type of girls is quite diverse, offering a little bit of everything Thailand is known for in this regard:
– Some are very average-looking, with no particular standout features
– Then there’s the young and wild type
– The quiet but cute one
– The chubby and fun-loving girl
– The plain-looking but affectionate one
– The tall and quirky one
– The older, seasoned lady
– The strong but sporty type
– The tattooed girl,
– And a couple who honestly wouldn’t look out of place in a Nana Plaza Go-Go bar.
On top of that, you’ll also find freelancers and “externals” who often drop by looking for clients — and some of them are really stunning.
In short, there’s something for everyone (yes, even a fun-loving kathoey if you’re into that), and one thing’s for sure: you won’t be bored in their company.
Prices: As far as Girls are concerned, granted that not all staff girls are inclined to be Barfined by anyone, that none are obliged to do so and that they choose if and with whom they go(but when in doubt it is permissible and normal to try if it seems appropriate to you), the Barfine cost is 800 Baht(the fee for the Girl you will agree separately with the Girl herself). Lady drinks cost 200 Baht(they are not compulsory but if you entertain yourself with a Girl it is a good idea to offer her something to drink and she will still ask for it if you do not do it first).
Restaurant / Bar: Drink prices at Orange Bar are quite reasonable for a Bangkok venue:
Beer costs around 100 Baht (or 70 Baht during Happy Hour, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM)
Jack Daniel’s and other whiskeys, rums, and gins are around 150 Baht
Cocktails are priced at 220 Baht
If you want to buy a drink for one of the girls (or any staff member), the Lady Drink is 200 Baht.
The bar also features a selection of unique, house-made liquors — both interesting and tasty — such as Blueberry Gin, Strawberry Soju, and the more exotic and mysterious “Thai Viagra”, all priced at 100 Baht per shot.
Orange Bar also offers restaurant service: you can order from the menu and they’ll bring food to your table from nearby restaurants.
For those who prefer authentic Thai street food, vendors regularly pass by outside until 5:00 AM or later, and the girls often grab snacks from them — sometimes encouraging you to try their favorite dishes.
Opening Hours: From 2 pm until 5 am (but closing time is more of a “who knows…”) .
Note: Orange Bar is located in Soi 11/1, a short L-shaped alley that connects the famous Soi 11 to Sukhumvit Road, just about 80 meters from BTS Nana station’s Exit 3, and around 200 meters from Soi 8 if you use the overpass.
What else can be said about this place? Well, for starters, there’s not just one Orange Bar — in fact, there’s a “sister” bar located in Soi 7/1, which I didn’t explore in depth, but I did stop by for a quick game of pool and a beer in the late morning with one of the girls. That branch is actually more of a guesthouse-style hostel that rents out rooms, and it stays open 24/7.
But speaking specifically about Orange Bar in Soi 11/1, after hanging out there regularly for around two weeks, I can confidently say it’s a lively and welcoming spot to enjoy long evenings that can easily stretch until dawn — especially if you get swept up in the energy and charm of the girls who work there.
At the same time, it’s also a laid-back hangout where you can grab a cheap beer in the afternoon or early evening — either alone or with friends — because at Orange Bar, you’ll never really feel alone if you let the girls take care of you in exchange for a few drinks. it’s their job and they do it reasonably well) the rest of the staff isn’t bad either, but the true heart of Orange Bar is always the girls. They’re the ones who bring the evenings to life and entertain the customers. They joke around with each other and pull you into fun situations, spreading cheer. They play, sing, dance, drink, tease, get drunk, make you feel emotions, and sometimes even excite you. Without a doubt, they make you laugh and have a good time, one way or another. And if you happen to find one who’s willing to go a bit further, you can enjoy the experience without spending a fortune — with that fleeting thrill of conquest that you know is kind of fake, but that bar girls keep alive nonetheless. Unlike GoGo girls and “massage girls,” where the job is basically the same and sex is always sex, with bar girls it always feels a little less like a straightforward transaction, even though you still pay, even if they’re not as beautiful or model-like — as long as they’re always a little naughty.
In short: The place is really nice, easy to get to, always cool despite being partially open to the outside, so it’s never “claustrophobic.” The atmosphere is lively, the music is generally good and rarely annoying, prices are reasonable, and there’s no shortage of billiards and classic Thai-style pool bar games. The girls put in a good effort, and the place is quite popular—especially late at night, and maybe even more so in the early hours when other venues close. It often turns into a meeting spot for night owls and some colorful characters, just like some of the girls you’ll find there.
Personally, I’ve experienced all kinds of emotions there, made “friends” with several girls, met some cool people, got drunk more than once, and had an absolute blast until dawn. So, I can’t say anything but good things about it.
Objectively, it’s a step above the average Bangkok pool bar, and if I had to point out one thing to improve, it would be the girls’ line-up. If the overall aesthetic level were just a notch higher, it would probably become the best bar in the area ( as reliable as it can be coming from a guy who took a couple of them to his room and at least two others he would have liked to have had them there, but details)).
