Venue: Bunny 5 is a Go Go Bar located on the top floor of Nana Plaza, in the far corner of the balcony past Billboard, and is one of the most “hidden” Go Go bars of all due to its very tucked-away location.
The venue is medium-sized, not particularly modern or lavish, and certainly cannot compete aesthetically with some of the trendier giants of Nana Plaza, but overall the space is used fairly well and, personally, I do not dislike it. There are two separate stages where the girls take turns, as well as a sort of tiered seating area with several sofas from which it is easy to watch both the ladies on stage and what is happening in the rest of the room. The sofas on the upper levels are also fairly secluded and provide a reasonable degree of privacy, something that some particularly uninhibited girls seem to appreciate quite a lot. On more than one occasion, I have in fact seen—and personally experienced—a bit of “manual service” discreetly offered directly on the sofa. Obviously, this does not appear on the bar’s price list and depends entirely on the girl, the level of familiarity that develops, and the situation in the room, so do not walk in expecting extra services as if you had ordered a Tequila.
One of the interesting features of Bunny 5 is the bathtub, where two girls usually take turns completely nude, with a change roughly every half hour. Do not expect a show worthy of the Moulin Rouge, but it is still something different from the usual more-or-less bored swaying of the girls on Go Go stages, and it certainly helps make the atmosphere a little spicier. Another quirky touch is the glass window on the wall above the urinals in the restroom, which overlooks the main room and offers an interesting and unusual view while you are busy emptying your bladder after too many beers. ^^
Girls: The quality of the girls is very inconsistent, and having visited Bunny 5 many times, I can say that it really depends a lot on the day. One evening you walk in and there are several who are worth paying attention to, perhaps leaving you spoiled for choice, while the next it seems as though all the interesting ones have been given the day off at the same time. On average, speaking purely in terms of objective beauty, the quality is not especially high, and there are certainly other Go Go bars in Nana Plaza with a higher concentration of attractive girls. That does not mean there are no exceptions, however, and every now and then some particularly pleasant little “gem” turns up, including a few petite girls who fit perfectly within my own personal and highly debatable standards of beauty.
But in my opinion, Bunny should be judged on more than just looks. There are several girls who may not exactly turn heads while they are on stage, but once they come down into the room they turn out to be friendly, entertaining, and much more fun than some aesthetically perfect statues who, after the first Lady Drink, already look as though they would rather be anywhere else. Others are decidedly more uninhibited and playful, rubbing up against you, getting handsy, and not having too many problems making it clear what they have in mind. Personally, I would take a girl who is a seven in terms of looks but is friendly, cheerful, and just naughty enough a thousand times over a nine who spends the whole evening staring at her phone. In short, the line-up is a bit of a lottery: it depends on the day, the time, and who is actually working that evening.
Prices: Drink and Lady Drink prices are in line with the competition. Barfine: 1000 Baht. – Short Time: 3000 Baht. – Long Time: from 5000 Baht.
Naturally, Short Time and especially Long Time rates can be negotiable or may vary slightly depending on the girl, the time, and the situation, but these are roughly the figures I have personally encountered during my various visits. Considering the prices now seen in several Go Go Bars in Nana Plaza, Bunny 5 therefore remains in the relatively lower price range of the sector, and this, especially when you find an interesting girl, is undoubtedly one of its advantages.
Hours: Daily, approximately from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Restaurant/Bar: Classic Go Go Bar menu, with beers, Tequila, Rum, Whiskey, Long Drinks, and everything else.
Note: Bunny 5 is one of those venues that I have learned not to judge on the basis of a single evening. The first thing to keep in mind is precisely the extreme variability of the line-up: I have gone in and found at least three or four girls who caught my interest at the same time, just as I have returned only a few days later and found a situation that made me have a beer, say goodbye, and head somewhere else.
Aesthetically, there is not much to say about the place either. It is not new, particularly stylish, or especially large, and it does not have the trendy nightclub vibe that some of the newer Go Go Bars try to create. Personally, though, I do not necessarily see any of that as a drawback.
In fact, on some nights its simpler, more laid-back setup actually helps create a relaxed atmosphere where the girls seem less stiff and more willing to have fun with the customers. Some are genuinely friendly, others are very uninhibited, and a few seem to treat the more secluded sofas in the tiered seating area as their own private playground, where hands mysteriously start disappearing from view as they tease and fool around in the shadows. ^^
As for the girls you can take out of the bar, this is where Bunny 5 can become particularly interesting in my opinion. The average level of attractiveness may not match that of the more prestigious venues, but if you find a girl who suits your taste, a 1,000 Baht barfine and around 3,000 Baht for a Short Time are still relatively reasonable prices for Nana Plaza. And some girls who may look fairly average at first can turn out to be a pleasant surprise once you leave the bar with them. My own experience has taught me long ago that the equation “better looking on stage = better in the hotel” often does not work at all, and quite a few times the exact opposite turns out to be true. So do not be too picky, and above all, do not judge only with your eyes. Have a beer, invite over the girl who catches your interest, buy her a couple of Lady Drinks, and see whether there is at least a little chemistry between you. If she is attractive, friendly, and playful as well, then you have hit the jackpot; if after five minutes you are both staring at your phones, spare each other the misery and move on.
In Short: Bunny 5 is probably not the kind of Go Go Bar I would cross half of Bangkok specifically to visit, but since it is inside Nana Plaza, it is definitely worth taking a look when you are up on the top floor. Have a quick glance, and if you see something that catches your eye, sit down for a beer. If, on the other hand, it looks like they have only brought in the rejects that night, just keep walking without a second thought and come back the next day, because the line-up could be completely different. When things are good, though, it can turn into a great place for a night that gets a little more daring and spicy. The girls are generally more easygoing than in some other venues, and a few are decidedly uninhibited. And if the evening on the sofas has worked up your appetite, you can always move on to the next stage: 1,000 Baht barfine, come to an agreement with the girl, and head off to the hotel. It may not have the most attractive “stable” in Nana Plaza, but considering the prices and the potential for a fun night, the value for money is anything but bad.
Overall, Bunny 5 is a fairly simple, no-frills Go Go Bar with décor that is unlikely to win any design awards, but the two stages, the bathtub, and the relative freedom given to the girls give the place an identity of its own. On the right night, the atmosphere can become very lively and a lot of fun.
