Location: The Stable Lodge Hotel is in a perfect area, three steps away from all the fun of Bangkok’s so-called “Sukhumvit” area(indicatively the stretch of Sukhumvit Road and related Soi between the Nana and Asok districts) without sacrificing tranquility. It is located on Soi 8, a rather calm and quiet side street that starts directly from the bustling Sukhumvit Road and is connected by a pedestrian walkway to Soi 6, from which it is easier to get to Nana Plaza. A few minutes’ walk takes you to BTS Nana Station (about 300 meters away) and Soi 4 with all its nightlife and Venues open until late. Just as easily, crossing the station overpass or stairs leads to Soi 11, another popular street that is bustling all night long. The area is perfect for those who want a mix of leisure and relaxation: there are international restaurants, bars, massage parlors, and convenience stores within a 2-3 minute walk. In addition, Soi 8 is among the safest and quietest in the area, with little traffic and a pleasant relaxed atmosphere.
Room: The rooms are spacious, not huge but bright, and with minimal but well-kept furnishings. All rooms have private balconies, no small plus for Bangkok (and very useful for smokers). The bed is not scenic but is comfortable, wood and/or tile floors, air conditioning works well, and there is everything you need for a comfortable stay: refrigerator, kettle with tea and coffee, TV, desk, and safe. Each room has a private bathroom with bath or shower, which is always clean and stocked with towels and toiletries. Cleaning is done daily, with sheets and towels changed. Wi-Fi is free and gets good reception throughout the facility, including in the rooms.
The main types are:
-
Standard Room, the cheapest but still spacious;
-
Superior Room, more modern and recently renovated, some with pool view;
-
Deluxe Room, larger and with attention to detail;
- In addition to these there is a kind of Bungalow on the driveway at the side of the garden, a few meters from the road in Soi 8
Bathroom: Bathrooms are simple, very “old style” but functional, all with showers, some with glass stalls, others with dividing curtain. Always available: hair dryer, toiletries, towels, toilet paper and bath mat.
Facilities: Features of the Stable Lodge include the garden with a bar/restaurant and the pool, which is rather small but pleasant for cooling off, with sun beds and shaded areas. Sitting at tables by the pool, one can order drinks or snacks from the restaurant, which is particularly popular for its cuisine even for those not staying at the Stable Lodge, but for hotel guests there is a full breakfast served as a choice (not always included in the price, to be checked when booking). Laundry service, luggage storage and 24-hour front desk are also available. The open-air bar is always very quiet, ideal for an evening drink, perhaps before going up to your room in sweet company. The hotel also offers a taxi/transfer service to the airport upon request.
Cleanliness: The housekeeping staff is punctual, discreet, and available for any extra requests. Rooms are tidied up every day, and everything is always neat and fragrant. Common areas, including the pool, are well maintained.
Prices: Good value for money, especially considering the excellent location:
-
Standard rooms start at about THB 1,400 (about 36 euros),
-
Superior rooms are around THB 1,700-1,900,
-
Deluxe rooms can exceed THB 2,000 per night.
There are often offers on Agoda, where you can save as much as 10-20% depending on the season. The Stable Lodge is also part of the AgodaVIP circuit.
Note: The Stable Lodge Hotel is absolutely Guest Friendly, so you can bring a girlfriend or whoever you want to your room at no extra charge. The guest will need to leave an ID at the front desk for security purposes, which is a very common and reassuring practice. To access the Bungalow you do not have to go through the reception since it is adjacent to the facility but is located on the driveway outside the entrance, however, it is possible and advisable to have the guest leave the ID in order to avoid any misunderstandings.
The atmosphere of the hotel is pleasant, never too crowded, and the presence of the pool and the bar/restaurant make it almost a small oasis in the heart of Bangkok.
The staff is courteous, very active and always ready to help. The corridors leading to the rooms are spartan and relatively narrow, and the atmosphere is that of a small, old-fashioned hotel, rustic and somewhat vintage, but always clean and kept to the best of its ability. The Soi 8 area is much quieter than other more chaotic streets such as Soi 4 or Soi 11, but still offers everything within easy reach.
In essence, the Stable Lodge is an excellent choice for those seeking tranquility, a central location, and good value for money. Ideal for both short and long stays. Perfect for those who want to be close to the nightlife but do not disdain relaxation and silence at night. Highly recommended for those who do not demand a luxurious environment but want a Guest Friendly property with a pool, balcony, and all amenities at an honest price in one of the most convenient and versatile areas of Bangkok.
