Location: Frühstückspension Wernberg is located in a small village called Wernberg, about ten minutes from the famous FKK ANDIAMO and a little farther from the center of Villach, obviously in Austria. The property is practically right on the main road, from which you access the parking area. Across the street there is a Billa supermarket and other small businesses; a bit further along there are two gas stations and another market. Other than that, there isn’t much else—it’s an absolutely quiet area but close enough to Andiamo to be convenient.
Room: The hotel offers four types of rooms: Single – Single with Balcony – Double – Double with Balcony. The single rooms are small and basic, equipped with a desk, TV, nightstand, wardrobe, single bed, and coat rack. The ones with a balcony are similar but include a small terrace with a chair and a little table. The double rooms are slightly larger and have a double bed. (The mattress might be a bit soft, but that largely depends on personal taste.)
Bathroom: The bathroom is basic, with a shower cabin, sink, mirror, hairdryer, towel hook, and toilet. There are no shelves to place items other than the sink, but the overall size is adequate for doing what you normally do in a bathroom. Clean, functional, and very warm in winter.
Services: Besides a good Wi-Fi internet connection, the only service offered is breakfast. You simply go to the buffet room on the ground floor, give your room number to the staff member, choose a table, and you can eat as much as you like. The variety of food and drinks is not wide: in addition to milk, coffee, fruit juices, and tea, there are the usual basic items such as bread, butter, hotel-style chocolate spread and jams, yogurt, cereals, and a few savory options. Definitely essential—just enough to refuel after waking up.
Cleanliness: The hotel is well maintained and clean, as are the rooms, bathrooms, and balconies. On the bed you’ll find a feather pillow and a warm duvet in perfect Carinthian style. In the bathroom there are single-use shower gel and soap, two towels, and a bath mat.
Prices: Rates start from €69 for single rooms and around €90 for doubles. A few extra euros in both cases get you a balcony. Notes: Frühstückspension Wernberg is a self check-in hotel. After booking, you are provided with a code that allows you to collect your key from an automated lockbox. The process takes about two minutes: you take the electronic key with your room number and follow the signs on the stairs to reach your room.
Rooms are located on the first and second floors along different corridors, and the directions are simple and clear. The overall environment is small but welcoming. Reception is generally empty, which is normal for the self check-in nature of the hotel, but in the morning there are breakfast attendants and cleaning staff.
Check-in is officially available until 10:00 p.m., because there is no one at reception and the main entrance door is locked after 11:00 p.m. until the morning before breakfast. So if you already have your key and return later, you can open the door with the same electronic room key. However, if you arrive after hours and still need to check in, you will find the door closed.
Basically, it’s a budget hotel for those who want to save money considering the prices in the area—slightly out of the way but close to the town of Villach, and with some equally affordable external conveniences, such as the supermarket just a few meters across the street. Rooms with a balcony are good for smokers, especially in summer, because in winter temperatures are definitely too low to stay outside on the terrace.
Perfect for a weekend or if you’re just looking for a bed to rest after a long day at an FKK. If you’re looking for luxury, pampering, and top-level comfort, there are better options elsewhere at higher prices. If instead you want privacy and savings when going to your favorite border sauna club, Frühstückspension Wernberg can be a very solid option.
