Just finished the third week, and here I am again writing from the little balcony of the rented apartment in Bangkok after the short \u2018maritime\u2019 break in Pattaya. Naturally, I only saw the sea a couple of times from Beach Road, because maybe not everyone knows, but the sea in Pattaya is pretty bad, and I\u2019m using a mild term ^^.
If, instead, someone wants beautiful beaches and crystal-clear water like in the photos from travel agencies, you just go to the pier and, for a few bucks, take a boat to Koh Larn, and maybe even reach Koh Phai, which is a little further away. As for me, I went there a couple of times years ago and that\u2019s enough \u2014 I like the sea atmosphere, but I\u2019m not a big fan of beach days; a walk or an evening with company is fine, but I prefer something else.
Anyway, it was a holiday within the holiday, and as such I managed it in a loop of fun and relaxation: GoGo and other bars in the evening, wild nights, sleep in the morning, pool in the afternoon, and then between one thing and another there\u2019s food and a couple of little purchases here and there. All very relaxed, more or less. <\/p>\n

The Go Go Bar <\/a>(or Agogo<\/em>, as you\u2019ll sometimes see it written) of LK METRO in Pattaya are various and diverse. I visited quite a few; in others I just popped in once and left because there was no inspiration and they were practically empty. Maybe it\u2019s low season, and this year, according to everyone, there\u2019s less tourism than usual in Thailand. The fact remains that, in general, I noticed an excess of girls everywhere compared to the customers, which I don\u2019t mind at all, but on the other hand, it makes the atmosphere a bit less lively than when there\u2019s more activity.<\/p>\n

I still confirm Paradise as one of my favorites, even though I noticed a drop in the overall quality of the girls since last time. But I also picked up two of them, one of whom even kindly offered her ass, so I can\u2019t complain. The barfine in the GoGos of LK Metro is around 1,500 Baht in the early evening and drops to about 600 Baht after 2:00 a.m. (the bars close around 3:30), and after midnight it\u2019s still possible to get it down to 1,000\u20131,200 Baht. Each bar has its own \u2018price list,\u2019 and not all the girls ask for the same rate, but a Short-Time costs on average 3,000 Baht, which, unlike the barfine, is paid directly to the girl in the room. <\/p>\n

The other Go Go Bars worth mentioning that I visited are Crystal and Queen, nice venues but in these days they seemed a bit subdued, especially Crystal. Then there\u2019s Peachy Lily, which, if you\u2019re into Ladyboys<\/em>, isn\u2019t bad; otherwise, don\u2019t go in, because although there are a few appealing ones, there you\u2019ll only find girls with a penis ^^. Anyway, for each individual club I\u2019ll add a Review Sheet in the dedicated section of the website. I\u2019ve taken notes and will get to work on it as soon as I find the time once I\u2019m back at my station in Italy, because doing everything from the laptop as I\u2019m doing now would be too demanding and approximate. Among the myriad of bars in the area, I allow myself to recommend one for its calm atmosphere and the friendliness of the girls. The bar in question is called BarFine<\/em>, a name a destiny, as they say. I stopped by one evening while waiting for a friend, and the very sweet girl, whose name I don\u2019t remember (but that\u2019s my limitation; I always get confused when there are too many to remember), kept me company with a single Lady Drink for an hour, without being pushy and understanding that I wasn\u2019t there to take her out<\/em>, even though at one point she tried to suggest it, I replied that I might come back later \u2014 and indeed I wasn\u2019t lying; I would have picked her up if I hadn\u2019t found something better at Las Vegas. She was really cute, even though my friend who joined me at the bar didn\u2019t like her much, but I wouldn\u2019t have chosen the girl he took to the room, so in the end it\u2019s all personal taste, and that\u2019s fine.<\/p>\n

As for hotels, I stayed three nights at Hotel Adelphi<\/a> (already reviewed previously, where I\u2019ve always had a good experience) and two at Areca Lodge<\/a>, which I have to say turned out to be a nice surprise. I would describe it as an excellent hotel with a perfectly reasonable price, but its strongest point remains the location, right in the middle of everything useful and necessary in the neighborhood and less than 50 meters from the start (or the end, depending on which side you enter) of the nighttime chaos of LK METRO. You can find both reviews in the Hotels section of the website, but honestly, between the two I would choose Areca Lodge, even though I am a loyal guest of the Adelphi, which says a lot. <\/p>\n

Small parenthesis about food: I found and re-discovered some noteworthy little restaurants. The first is the well-known \u2018Little Brother,\u2019 which I\u2019ve mentioned before (for example here<\/a>, or here<\/a>), located on 2nd Road. It\u2019s simple, with good fried dishes and Thai plates, generous portions, fast service, and low prices. Another small restaurant for a quick but tasty dish is adjacent to the Maytara Hotel . <\/g>The restaurant practically has no name, but it\u2019s right in front of the hotel entrance, which can also be reached by walking through the tables since it\u2019s also located at the corner of 2nd Road with Pattaya Soi 11. Few tables, mixed Thai-European menu, good for a pad thai or for meat and fries, nothing exceptional but tasty and very cheap.
A very good spot for grilled meat is FLAME, in Soi Lengkee, the street almost opposite Soi 13 where Areca Lodge is located, but on the other side of Soi Buakhao. Flame is basically a grill house, but not only that; there are many meat specialties, and the quality is very good. On Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. they serve the Sunday Roast \u2014 a plate with 250 g of meat of your choice, along with baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, cauliflower with cheese, a small omelet, a tasty sausage, and various vegetables, all for 495 Baht. I tried it and it was all very good. I highly recommend it, even though I haven\u2019t had the chance to try other dishes. It\u2019s not as cheap as Thai restaurants serving Thai food, but it\u2019s worth it if you\u2019re craving meat. <\/p>\n

What else to say: checking out from Areca Lodge<\/a> took me only 5 minutes, and for the return trip I relied once again on 12GO.ASIA<\/a>, booking in advance a \u2018Comfort\u2019 taxi from my hotel in Pattaya to my apartment in Bangkok, somewhat like the ones from Bolt that I had tried to book, but during payment it kept giving an error, so I did everything again with 12GO<\/a>, which so far has never disappointed me. If instead you need a taxi on the fly, I still recommend Bolt<\/a>; in that it works well (but it costs a bit more for long trips, which is why I prefer to book in advance \u2014 you save a bit and avoid possible last-minute surprises). <\/p>\n
